Periasamy Gunasegaran was a humble man. Stemming from a lesser beginning, he took this game on and turned it into a career. His mission! A career that took him to stardom.
After winning The South East Asian Games Gold, Guna took on the pro ranks winning on multiple occasions. His wins came from all over the region.
Guna was best known for the 1994 Malaysian Open where he heroically held a 20foot birdie to force a playoff. He took the sudden death to 8 holes before succumbing.
Guna was also in a 'head to head' clash with the the very accomplished USA World Cup Team with M. Ramayah in Puerto Rico. Matching Team USA shot for shot and eventually finishing top 10.
Guna will be remembered for his heroic battles and how he helped lift the game when it needed.
RIP to a Malaysian golf icon.
